Lithium Battery VS Lead Acid Battery

At present, the mainstream electric golf cart batteries on the market are mainly divided into lead-acid batteries and lithium battery.

Among them, the most common is lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4). Because lithium batteries have no memory effect, the remaining capacity can still reach 85% after more than 4,000 energy cycles. Lithium batteries are lighter than lead-acid batteries, have a larger specific capacity, and have a longer cycle life. For low-speed electric vehicles such as golf carts and sightseeing tour buses, lithium batteries are required to be light and easy to carry, which is conducive to the lightweight design of electric vehicle products. The specific differences between the two batteries are as follows:

Lithium battery:

Durability:

The cycle life can reach 4,000-8,000 times, and the service life exceeds ten years. For example, the cycle life of a 48V100Ah golf cart battery is up to 8,000 times.

High discharge rate:

Supports high current discharge, suitable for mountain off-road vehicles, electric vehicles, motorcycles, ships, RVs, etc.

Small size:

Under the premise of the same voltage and capacity, the volume of lithium batteries is 2-3 times smaller than that of lead-acid batteries.

Large capacity:

Under the same volume, the capacity of lithium batteries is much higher than that of lead-acid batteries.

No memory effect:

can be charged and discharged at any time.

Environmental protection:

lithium batteries do not contain any toxic or harmful ingredients, are recognized as green batteries by the world, and are pollution-free during production and use.

Lead-acid battery

Durability

The lead-acid battery cycle life is less than 300 times, the working life is about two years, which has a memory effect. And there is liquid in the lead-acid battery. If you find that the battery is hot or the reduction in charging time when you have used it for a long time, you need to add liquid.

Large volume:

The lead-acid battery weighs 16-30kg and is large in size and weight.

Environmental protection:

There is a large amount of lead in lead-acid batteries. If they are disposed of improperly, they will pollute the environment.

Low voltage:

Rated voltage is 2.0V, a battery pack voltage is 12V.
